Growing Peace and Possibility
New school partnerships, mentoring, and peer mediation are bringing peacebuilding skills to more students

Peace Education is expanding its work with Jefferson County Public Schools. The JCPS Board of Education has approved our programs in district schools for this school year and next. We’re beginning at Kerrick Elementary this month, where we’ll work with every student in grades 1–5 to build skills for understanding one another and resolving conflict peacefully.
We’re also partnering with 12 10th graders in our coed Navigators Mentoring Program. The students are eager to explore topics that matter in their lives now and in the future—including conflict resolution, healthy relationships, career pathways, entrepreneurship, and taxes. Their curiosity is helping shape conversations that connect practical knowledge with the choices they’ll face ahead.
At Stuart Academy, another group of 6th graders will soon receive Peer Mediation training. This marks the third year Stuart has brought the program to its students. With support from 6th Grade Assistant Principal Hank Rothrock, students learn how to talk through disagreements with their peers and work toward peaceful solutions. Peer mediation gives students a constructive way to address conflict before it escalates into verbal or physical altercations or results in suspension or ISAP.
Peace Education is also staying connected to the wider community. We recently attended the University of Louisville’s Non-Profit Fair, where students had the chance to learn about the many nonprofit organizations serving our community. We enjoyed meeting students and fellow professionals, sharing our work, and making connections with local agencies.

Thank you
for making peace possible
Peace Education is grateful to everyone who supported us through Give for Good Louisville. Thanks to 44 donors, we raised $15,035 through the Community Foundation of Louisville’s campaign. Every gift helps sustain the programs that give young people practical tools to resolve conflict, build healthy relationships, and create brighter futures.
We extend special thanks to our anonymous donor, whose generous $10,000 matching gift inspired others to give and helped make this result possible. We’re deeply grateful for that commitment and for every person who contributed.
Your support will help Peace Education continue its work with students and community partners through programs such as peer mediation, mentoring, and conflict-resolution education. Together, we’re helping young people learn how to listen, work through disagreements, and make thoughtful choices—skills that can strengthen schools and communities for years to come.
